The main advantage our robot had over the competition was a functional
automatic transmission. A transmission assembly, shown here, rotates
about a center axis (between the two wheels) to select which wheel
makes contact with the ground. Both wheels are in motion at any given time,
but only one is allowed to contact the ground.
